The Leppen Leadership Individual Award recognizes persons who have worked to make change for our community. I had the opportunity to present a brief speech acknowledging the persons who have provided enormous support and guidance (full text below).
About Face Theatre also recognized an outstanding organization The Chicago Inclusion Project. And a member of the About Face Youth Theatre was presented their MVP Award for exceptional service, Liv Haman.

The work: TO THE MOON is a fierce and tender docu-drama about domestic abuse. Almost 200 survivors contributed stories that shaped this script; knowing that such abuse impacts people from all walks of life, five diverse women collaborated to interview survivors and distribute surveys. Playwright Beth Kander weaves these survivors' stories into a tough and moving play, documenting and dramatizing the tragic realities of domestic abuse in America.

This production marked two firsts for me, post-transition: my first cisgender female, and first musical part. Aside from an understudy assignment at Chicago Shakespeare, Nurse Smith was my only acting job for 2017. And she was a real handful.
This month, my public appearances were tied to the LGBT Community. Even added some unplanned-for events.
